Building Family Trees
General family history services entail creating and building family trees. Depending on your existing knowledge, we start from scratch, or build on whatever you already have, or break through “brick walls” to discover missing links. Although we go where the evidence takes us, we specialize in 19th and early 20th century U.S. and Canadian sources.
There are a lot of genealogy companies out there, and they all offer different products, with different databases and different outcomes. We can help keep your family tree manageable and meaningful. Why is that necessary? Keep in mind that family trees are exponential: you have two parents, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, 16 great-great-grandparents, 32 great-great-great-grandparents, and, then as you continue back generations, the numbers grow to 64, 128, 256, 512, etc. different branches with different last names. So if you want to trace your family tree back to, say, the American Revolution or colonial times, your family tree could theoretically contain more than a thousand branches to research.
Many people buy one of the DNA products out there on the market, find literally tens of thousands of “matches” and become overwhelmed. Our approach is different. Based on your particular desires, we utilize multiple databases to extract the most accurate data, and then filter that raw data into something meaningful to you.
Here are some stories and examples of what you might see as you uncover your past, but if you are ready to proceed to how we do what we do, click here.

That depends on a number of factors but the biggest is how accessible the documentary evidence is. Getting DNA results back generally takes 4-6 weeks.
That depends on what you want to accomplish within the constraints of your budget and is a primary component of both the Initial Consultation and the Initial Assessment. We’ll talk …
